Grandpa Dave and Judy treated the girls to a ride with Santa on the Holiday Express along the east bank of the Willamette River in a train pulled by a historic steam locomotive, the Spokane Portland & Seattle 700. They were joined by Great-Grandpa Darrel, Carol, and Honey and Honey Grandpa (and of course, Mama and Dada). Grandpa Dave got the girls some Christmas hats to wear and Christmas bears to hold. The girls were a bit shy with Santa: Kate got fussy when she saw him (although she did then give him a high-five on the way out of the train), and when Santa came by again later and sat down next to Audrey she didn't even look at him. They did like the candy canes they got from Santa, though. After their ride was over, they went up to watch the locomotive take off to pull the next load of passengers. It was loud and steamy; Dada loved it, the girls, maybe not so much. (If the slide show below doesn't work, click here.)
